  • Elijah

    Elijah Emefe-D’Abreu

Elijah began dancing at the age of 14, with the use of the Nintendo Wii and Lady Gaga’s Just Dance. It was not until after attending his sister’s first dance recital that he truly fell in love with dance. At age 15 he attended Nicole Jackson School of Dance and went on to compete for their hip-hop competition team.

While his tenure with the studio was only for a couple of years, Elijah had the chance to learn ballet, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics whilst competing throughout the year. Upon entering post-secondary studies Elijah continued to hone his craft, practice and compete when his schedule permitted. Simply, Elijah is primarily self-taught and continues to try to push the boundaries of what is possible. That often includes incorporating elements of street performance and contortionism that can still be seen in metropolitan cities today.

Some of his major inspirations are Phillip “Phil Wizard” Kim, Morris “Bboy Morris” Isby, Dushant “Fik-Shun” Stegall”, the late and great Michael Jackson and Quest Crew. Elijah joined Boomboxerz Crew in April of 2023 and is passionate about seeing students of all ages, background and skill challenge themselves and truly learn what it is to dance, not just perform.
